Olive Green Washi Origami Crane Place Card Holders

An olive green crane at every seat, holding your guest's name. Each one is folded by hand from Japanese yuzen washi — deep olive and mustard, with chrysanthemums and fine geometric patterns — and holds a place card, an escort card, a menu or a table number.

This is the one that does not read pastel. The palette comes straight from kimono cloth, and it belongs on an autumn table: bare wood, brass, dried grasses, a barn or a forest clearing. If your wedding is in October rather than May, start here.

Yuzen washi is patterned sheet by sheet, so the pattern falls differently on every bird. No two cranes in your set will be identical. Up close you can see the fibres in the paper and the way the gold catches as the light moves across the table.

Most guests take theirs home at the end of the night. A place card holder usually ends up in the bin; this one does not.
